See You at Petland

It's not often you can pencil "saving puppies" into your weekend plans, but here's an opportunity.

You may remember that The HSUS released the results of an 8-month investigation into Petland last November, exposing the chain as the nation's largest retail supporter of puppy mills. To encourage the company to mend its way, we've organized rallies at 22 Petland stores across the country this Saturday from 1-3 p.m.

You may know that PETCO and PetSmart allow adoptions of shelter and rescue dogs in their stores, rather than selling puppies from mills. That’s the model Petland should follow. The company needs to abandon its phony adoption gimmicks which tend to be older or returned dogs sold at discount prices—and get out of the business of profiting from puppies and into the adoption game for real.

Advocates will gather Saturday to help spread the truth about puppy mill cruelty and to ask Petland to stop selling puppies. I hope you can join us—please check this list for the location nearest you, and be sure to let friends and family know about the events, as well.
